Physcho Sexual Stages |
Child passes through stages focusing on bodily areas (mouth anus genitals) and must pass through all stages to be healthy.
Oral stage (birth to 1.5) Pleasure centered on mouth w/ nursing
Phallic Stage (3-6) - Pleasure zone is genitals and coping with incestuous feelings (oedipus complex)
Latency (6-12) After Oedipus they repress sexual feelings Spend time w/ same sex.

Defense Mechanisms |
Defense against anxiety and psychological conflict. Way of resolving conflict between id and superego in the ego.

Fantasy (day dreaming too much) - When u fantasize so much its harmful as u dont deal with realities of life.
Repression - Pushing unwanted thoughts in unconscious mind. (forgetting)
Rationalization - Creating reasons.
Sour Grapes - Cant reach a goal, we tell ourselves wasnt worthwhile at all.
Regression - Problems to overwhelming to be handled maturely, go back to old habits.
Denial - If reality is too unpleasant we deny its existence.
Projection - Attributing your feelings to other people. Instead of dealing with own feeling we claim theyre someone elses.
Reaction Formation - Replacing feelings we believe are wrong according to morals into opposite feelings.
Displacement - Direct aggression against actual cause may not be socially acceptable, take out our desire to b aggressive on innocent person or thing.
