intermittent claudication
a muscular, cramping pain in the extremities -
pain caused by the inability of the arterial system to provide adequate blood flow to the tissues in the face of increased demands for nutrients and oxygen during exercise.
assessing venous system
inspect the skin for coolness, paleness
rubor - reddish blue discoloration of extremities
palpate pulses bilaterally and simultaneously
peripheral artery occlusive disease manifestations and s/s
most common manifestation: intermittent claudication
cold and numb skin when elevated or ruddy and cyanotic when placed in dependent position
