Ruled Paris 987-996. He started the Capetian dynasty that ruled part of France in the 1300's.
John Wycliff
English scholar in the 1300's. Nickname was the Morning Star of the Reformation. He printed the Bible in English. He said that Jesus was the leader of the church, not the Pope. Because he had powerful friends in England, the Pope could not touch him. 100 years after he died, he was put on trail, found guilty, and burned.
John Huss
A reformer from Bohemia (the Czech republic). He said that the Bible was more important than the pope. Huss had no powerful friends. But the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire said that he would protect him. The Emperor turned him over to the pope. Huss was burned at the stake.
Joan of Arc
Shepard Girl from France. She talked to angels. God told her she would lead the French to victory because she was pure. Her nickname is the maid of Orleans. On May 30, 1431 the English burned Joan of Arc as a witch.
Henry V of England
King of England who is the hero at the battle of Agincourt. English were outnumbered 6,000 to 30,000 against the French but still won.
