Cervical plexus

C1-c4/c5. Innervates the muscles of the larynx, sternocleidomastoid, trapezius, and the skin of the upper chest, shoulder, and ear.


C3-c5 are the phrenic nerves which control the diaphragm.

Brachial plexus

C5-t1. Innervate shoulder, upper limbs, and muscles in the trunk.


Axillary (c5, c6) - deltoid and teres minor muscles and the skin of the shoulder.


Radial (c5-t1) - extensor muscles of upper limb, skin over posterior and lateral margins of the arm. Also the thumb.


Musculocutaneous (c5-c7) - flexor muscles of upper limbs and skin of lateral forearm.


Median (c6-t1) - flexor muscles of forearm and digits, pronator muscles, and lateral skin of the hand.


Ulnar (c8-t1) - flexor carpi ulnaris muscle, hand muscles, medial skin of the hand, pinky.


Lumbar and sacral plexuses

Lumbar plexus (t12-l1) - skin and muscles of abdominal wall, genetilia, and thigh.


- genitofemoral nerve - external genetilia and anterior lateral skin of the thigh.


- lateral femoral cutaneous nerve - skin of thigh from all aspects except median.


- femoral nerve - muscle of anterior thigh and adductor muscle and medial skin of thigh.


Sacral plexus (l4-s4) -


Sciatic nerve - descends posterior lower limb and sends branches into posterior thigh muscles and the musculature and skin of the leg.


Pudenal nerve - muscular floor of pelvis, perineum, and skin of external genetilia.

Cerebrum

Largest portion of the adult brain. Has left and right hemispheres that are covered by cerebral cortex.


Controls most higher mental functions such as conscious thoughts, sensations, intellect, memory, and complex movements.
