why do cells need to grow? why cant they just grow forever (1st reason)?
like humans, cells eventually die. and there has to be a way for cells to pass on their genetic information so that the species does not die out
2nd reason??
the larger a cell grows, the more demands it has. and as the size of the cell increases, the DNA can no longer supply the demands of the cell
3rd reason??
as a cell grows larger, exchanging watses and nutrients becomes harder so as the cell increases the volume of the cell grows at a much faster rate than the surface area.
why does the exchanging of watses and nutrients become more difficult?
it takes a longer amount of time for watses to get from the center of the cell to the cell membrane, and it takes more time for the nutrients to get from the cell memebrane to the center of the cell
what is the 4th reason??
more cells working together to accomplish a task is more efficient than a single cell working alone
