Science
The process of asking questions about the world and answering them through logic, observations, and prior knowledge. It doesn't have to be an experiment.
Scientific Method
The process of diong science.
Observation
The process of using your five senses to acknowledge things about your environment.
Purpose
A question you ask about the observations you made.
Hypothesis
A testable answer to your question based on logic, observations, prior knowledge, and evidence. (If...then...format)
Experiment
The testing of your hypothesis by collecting and recording data.
Analysis and Conclusion
Evaluating and interpreting your data which leads to a conclusion that could check your hypothesis.
Repeat
The process of creating a new hypothesis to check your first results.
Theory
A theory is a statement that is accepted by the world. It's backed up with a lot of evidence and has been tested multiple.
Quantitative Observations
Something detected by measuring or using tools such as a ruler or thermometer.
Qualitative Observations
Something detected by using your five senses.
Direct Observations
Something detected by sight.
Indirect Observations
Something detected by one's senses besides sight.
Inference
Something your assuming to be true based on observations and prior knowledge.
Variables
The conditions that could change in an expirement.
Independent Variable
The variable you have control of and could change.
Dependent Variable
The variable that changes as a result of the independent variable.
Controlled Expirement
The expirement that tests the effects of one independent variable at a time.
Control Group
The group tested in which no variables are changed.
Expiremental Group
The group tested in which the independent variable is changed. This group is compared to the Control Group.
Metric System
The universal system of measurement that's based on the number 10.
Meter
The basic unit of length in the metric system.
Liter
The basic unit of volume in the metric system.
Gram
The basic unit of mass in the metric system.
