Addition
An operation that tells how many in all when you put together 2 or more numbers.


Zero Property of Addition
When 1 or 2 addends is zero, the sum is the same as the other addend.

Digit
Any of the symbols used to write numbers- 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,and 9.


Fact Family
A group of related facts using the same numbers.


Commutative Property
Means that when adding or multiplying, the order of the numbers does not affect the result.
Addend
A number to be added to another number.

Example: 9+6=15


subtraction
An operation on two numbers that tells how many are left when some are taken away. It is also used to compare 2 numbers.

Difference
The result of subtracting one number from another.
Example: 7-2=5


Associative Property
Means that when adding or multiplying, the grouping of the numbers does not affect the result.

Sum
The result of addition.
