States of matter

The physical forms of matter which include solid, liquid and gas.

Solid

The state of matter in which the volume and shape of the object are fixed.

Liquid

The state of matter that has a definite volume but not a definite shape.

Surface tension

The force that acts on the surface of a liquid and makes it a more round. The higher the surface tension the more round the liquid is.

Viscosity

The resistance of a gas or liquids to flow.

Gas

A form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape.

Crystalline

A type of solid in which the particles are arranged in a three-dimensional form.

Amorphous

A type of solid in which the particles are not arranged in a particular pattern.
