Anxiety

-Reduce anxiety by increasing availability of GABA -Many uses ie: seizures, sedative-hypnotic, muscle relaxant -Need titration to D/C -Physical and psychological dependence |

-CNS- drowsiness, sedation, lethargy
-Blurred vision, hypotension -Blood dyscrasias Need routine RBC, WBC -Hepatotoxicity- NO ALCOHOL!! Alcohol has additive effect |

-Buspirone or BuSpar
-Used for anxiety, smoking cessation -Improved coping -Po 5mg TID not to exceed 60mg/daily -Useful in treating OCD, panic disorder, PTSD -No physical/psychological dependence like benzodiazepines -Assess for s/e of CNS depression (slurred speech, dizziness) |
