TD which directs a one-time inspection to determine if a given condition exists and specifies what action shall be taken if the condition is found. It may contain instructions for corrective action using approved repair procedures, provided no change in configuration is involved; or it may require issuance of a change TD to remedy a deficiency.

Urgency sometimes requires change incorporations be initiated without delay, following CCB approval. In such cases, proposed changes are submitted to COMNAVAIRSYSCOM in TD format and, after approval, are disseminated immediately by message.
