  • Back
Nucleus
Directs all of the cells activities including reproduction
Ribosomes
Function as factories to produce proteins. They may be attached to the endoplasmic reticulum, or they may float in the cytoplasm
Cytoplasm
Is a gel-like fluid in which many different organelles float
Mitochondria
Most of the cells energy is produced here
Lysosomes
Are very small and they contain chemicals that break down food particles
Vacuole
Most plant and some animal cells have vacuoles that store food, water, waste and other materials
Cell Membrane
Protects and regulates what substances enter and leave the cell.
Golgi Body
The Golgi bodies receive materials from the endoplasmic reticulum and send them to other parts of the cell.
Organelle
A cell organ
Cell Wall
A tough, flexible layer that surround cells. Located outside of the cell membrane. Protects the cell
Nuclear Envelope
Serves as a physical barrier of the nucleus. Separates the contents of the nucleus and the cytoplasm.
Chromatin
Found inside the nuclear envelope. Packages DNA to a smaller volume to fit in the cell.
Nucleolus
Found within the nucleus. Contains all the DNA of the cell.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Transports materials to the Golgi Body
Chloroplast
Only found in plant cells. Capture energy from sunlight and transform it into food for the plant. Chloroplasts make plants green.
