USE OF SOBERING CELL
A sobering cell shall be used for the housing of inmates who are a
threat to their own safety or the safety of others due to their state of intoxication.

six hours, without an observation by the Jailer.

These services are set forth in writing as follows for all personnel and include routine procedure for:

INJURED INMATES
No inmate who has either received or complains of serious injury, to include the deliberate ingestion of drugs, whether inflicted at the time of arrest or prior thereto, shall be booked into a station jail before
he/she has been examined, treated and approved for incarceration by medical authority.

Inmates shall not be deprived of the possession or use of any orthopedic or prosthetic device if
the device has been prescribed or recommended and fitted by a physician.

If he/she asks for over-the-counter medications, which you have on hand, you
may furnish these to the prisoner. This applies also to minor toothaches, upset stomach, gas or minor stomach burning, diarrhea, or minor cold symptoms. If symptoms persist after 8 hours must get emergent medical treatment or call medical command center.
Frequency of Meal
Meals shall be served three times in any 24-hour period, and shall consist of breakfast, lunch and dinner. At least one of the meals shall include
hot food. If more than 14 hours pass between these meals, supplemental food must be served. If I/M misses a meal must provide sandwich and drink.

Hot food shall be reasonably warm
(140 degrees or hotter), and cold food reasonably cold (41 degrees or cooler), to curtail the growth of bacteria which could cause food borne illness.

Any inmate requiring a special diet shall be transferred
to Men’s Central Jail or Twin Towers.

The Watch Commander shall be responsible for the
control, storage and inventory of all inmates’ clothing.

Outer- garments, except footwear, shall be exchanged at least
once each week, unless work, climatic conditions, or illness necessitates more frequent exchanges. Undergarments and socks shall be exchanged twice each week.
Showering
Upon assignment to a housing area, inmates shall be permitted to shower/bathe daily. Units that cannot routinely comply with this procedure because of physical plant limitations shall
make provisions to allow inmates to shower at least every other day.
Hair Care Services
Inmates, except those who may not shave for reasons of identification in court, shall be permitted to shave daily and receive hair care services at least
once a month.

Upon assignment to a housing location a standard issue of bedding and linens for each inmate entering a living area who is expected to be held over

The contents shall be identified by a label (enclosed within the Eva-Safe container) with the deputy’s name, employee number, date/time of contact, the suspect’s name, the station, and the file number of the case.
