(Contributed a lot to Mexico so the Mexican gov't gave him a land grant (SF). He doesn't reside in SF but in Mexico, he hears that his land is being used so he travels to SF and learns his land now belongs to the US. he decides to sell the land for cheap and he his jailed. After being released, he goes back and forth to court w/ documents and proof that this was his land)

a dispute happened in regards to the boundary line N. of Rio Grand was US and South was Mexico. River changed and Mexicans were upset that US farmers were farming on their land. As a mediator Canada said the land where US was, belonged to Mexico and this was called the El Chamizal treaty.
