Endocardium
The inner linning of the heart.
Myocardium
The muscular, middle layer of the heart.
Pericardium
the outer, membranous sac surrounding the heart.
Right Artium
The right upper portion of the heart.
Right Ventricle
right lower portion of the heart.
Left Artium
left upper portion of the heart.
Left Ventricle
left lower portion of the heart.
Tricuspid Valve/ Right Atrioventricular
Guards the opening between the artium and the right ventricle.
Pulmonary Semilunar Valve
The exit point for the blood leaving the right ventricle.
Bicuspid/ Mitral Valve
Between the left artium and ventricle that allows the blood to flow to the left ventricle and closes to prevent its return.
Aortic Semilunar Valve
Blood exits from the left ventricle through. Located between the left ventricle and the aorta.
Blood Flows
Through the heart, to the lungs, back to the heart, and on to the various body parts.
Capillaries
Are microscopic blood vessels with thin walls that allow the passage of oxygen and nutrients to the body.
Heartbeat
Contolled by the autonomic nervous system.
Electrocardiogram (ECG, EKG)
Records that electrical activity of the heart.
Arteries
Constitute a branching systems of vessels that transports blood from the right and left ventricles.
Radial
Located on the radial (thumb side) of the wrist. (Pulse)
Brachial
Located in the antecubital space of the elbow. (Blood Pressrure)
Carotid
Located in the Neck. (Cardiac Arrest)
Temporal
Located at the Temple
Femoral
Located in the groin
Popliteal
Located behind the knee
Dorsalis pedis
Located on the upper surface of the foot
