How do we check the hydraulics on the first flight of the day?

1. HYD systems page on MFD
2. Gust lock off (optional)
3. Both HYD pump Auto (verify on MFD it’s working)
4. Both HYD pump ON (verify)
5. STEERING DISENGAGED
6. Systems AIL 1 and RUD 1 OFF (check EICAS to make sure it is off)
7. Check ailerons and rudder
8. Systems AIL 2 and RUD 2 OFF (check EICAS)

Considering Icing conditions

1. -40C is plane’s minimum OAT for takeoffs and landings
2. May want to wait to start an engine if ground conditions are icy or slippery
3. Igniters on below 5c and cold engine
4. Anti-ice ENG
5. DEICE
a. Configure the plane
b. Check holdover times against precip intensity using composite at 90%
6. Possible dual engine taxi if braking action less than fair
7. May want to wait to put flaps down
8. Engine temps are 40c or wait 8 minutes (minimum 21c)
9. Icing takeoff if below 10c and:
a. runway is contaminated
b. Ceiling is 1500ft or less
c. Visible moisture is present or visibility less than 1 mile
10. CHECK PACKS prior takeoff
