It IS NOT the greatest country in the world... Fine. Sharon, the NEA is a loser. Yeah, itaccounts for a penny out of ourpaychecks, but he gets to hit you with itanytime he wants. It doesn't cost money,it costs votes. It costs airtime and columninches. You know why people don't likeliberals? Because they lose. If liberals areso f***in' smart, how come they lose so God D*** much?!

And with a straight face, you're going totell students that America's sostar-spangled awesome that we're theonly ones in the world who havefreedom? Canada has freedom, Japanhas freedom, the UK, France, Italy,Germany, Spain, Australia, Belgium hasfreedom. Two hundred seven sovereignstates in the world, like 180 of them havefreedom.

And you—sorority girl—yeah—just in case youaccidentally wander into a voting booth one day, there are some things you should know, and oneof them is that there is absolutely no evidence tosupport the statement that we're the greatestcountry in the world.

We're seventh in literacy, twenty-seventh in math, twenty-second in science, forty-ninth in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, third in median household income, number four in labor force, and number four in exports.

We lead the world in only three categories: number ofincarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults whobelieve angels are real, and defense spending, where wespend more than the next twenty-six countries combined,twenty-five of whom are allies.

None of this is the fault of a20-year-old college student, but you, nonetheless, arewithout a doubt, a member of theWORST-period-GENERATION-period-EVER-period, sowhen you ask what makes us the greatest country in theworld, I don't know what the f*** you're talking about?!Yosemite?

We sure used to be. We stood up for what wasright! We fought for moral reasons, we passedand struck down laws for moral reasons. Wewaged wars on poverty, not poor people. Wesacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we putour money where our mouths were, and wenever beat our chest.

We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, exploredthe universe, cured diseases, and cultivated theworld's greatest artists and the world's greatesteconomy.

We reached for the stars, and we acted like men.We aspired to intelligence; we didn't belittle it; itdidn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identifyourselves by who we voted for in the lastelection, and we didn't scare so easy. And wewere able to be all these things and do all thesethings because we were informed.

By great men,men who were revered. The first step in solvingany problem is recognizing there isone—America is not the greatest country in theworld anymore. Enough?
