tongue with a yellow coating, and a rapid, forceful pulse.

Also for nosebleed or vomiting of blood due to heat excess; carbuncles, deep-rooted boils, and other toxic
swellings; and dysenteric disorders or jaundice due to damp-heat
Wu Wei Xiao Du Yin / Five Ingredient Decoction to Eliminate Toxin
Actions: Clears heat, relieves toxicity, cools the xue, and reduces swelling.

Indications: All types of boils and carbuncles with localized erythema, swelling, heat, and pain
accompanied by fever, chills, a red tongue with a yellow coating, and a rapid pulse. Especially useful for
deep-rooted and hard lesions, which are said to resemble nails or chestnuts.
Pu Ji Xiao Du Jin / Universal Benefit Decoction to Eliminate Toxin
Actions: Clears heat, eliminates fire toxin, and disperses wind-heat.

Da Tou Wen (Swollen Head Febrile Disease 大头瘟) with the presence of Wind
Heat and Toxin in the Upper Jiao and Head

Indications: Strong fever and chills, redness, swelling, and burning pain of the head and face, dysfunction
of the throat, dryness and thirst, a red tongue with a powdery-white or yellow coating, and a floating, rapid,
and forceful pulse.
Qing Ying Tang / Clear the Nutritive Level Decoction
Actions: Clears the Ying level, Relieves Fire toxin, Drains Heat, Nourishes Yin

Heat in the Xue Level

Indications: Fever, bleeding (hematemesis, epistaxis, hematochezia, hematuria, rashes), black and tarry
stools (melena), abdominal distention and fullness, thirst with inability to swallow, scarlet tongue with
prickles, thin rapid pulse. may have delirium.
Qing Wen Bai Du Yin / Clear Epidemics and Overcome Toxin Decoction
Actions: Clears heat, relieves toxicity, cools the blood, and drains the fire.

Wen Yi (Warm Epidemics) due to Excess Heat and Toxins in the Qi and Blood Level

Indications: Intense fever, strong thirst, dry heaves, severe and stabbing headache, extreme irritability, and
in severe cases, delirious speech, rash, and nosebleed. Dark Red tongue, dark and scorched lips, rapid and
either floating and large or submerged and thin.
Qing Shu Yi Qi Tang / Clear Summerheat and Augment the Qi Decoction

Actions: Disseminates the qi, facilitates the qi mechanisms, and clears damp-heat

Contraindications: Do not use unmodified for damp heat with emphasis on heat with intense yellow tongue
coat.
