narcissitic - you dont believe things really are the way they are

neurotic - doing the opposite of what your gut tells you to do.
repression
neurotic - unconsciously squelch a feeling. deny a certain feeling.

talking about a conflict in a "clinical manner" without getting emotionally involved.

the idea that when you interact with people, you project your feelings, thoughts, etc that have been developed in relationships over the years

countertransferrence is the physician's feelings that he projects onto the patient
defense mechanisms
properties of the EGO that allow us to deal with conflict. may be adaptive or pathological. narcissistic, immature, neurotic, and mature.
