Clavicles

Slender, s-shaped bones

Act as braces, they hold the scapulae and arms out laterally

Transmit compression formed from the upper limbs to axial skeleton

Scapulae

Thin, triangular flat bones

Has three borders: superior (shortest, sharpest), medial (parallel to vertebral column), lateral (next to armpit)

Humerus

Sole bone of arm, has a head, then anatomical neck, then lateral greater tunercle, then surgical neck

Midway down a V-shaped deltoid tuberosity, nearby the radial groove runs down the shaft

Ulna

Slightly stronger than radius

Forms the elbow joint with the humerus

Bears two prominent processes: olecranon and coronoid process

Ends in knob like head

Radius

Thin at proximal end, wide distally

Head is shaped like head of nail

Superior surface of head is concave and articulates with capitulum of humerus

Major forearm bone contributing to the wrist joint

Carpal bones

Two irregular row of four bones

First row: (lateral to medial) scaphoid(boat), lunate(moon), triquetrum(triangle), pisiform(pea)

Second row: trapezium(table), trapezoid, capitate(head), hamate(hook)

Sella turcica

Saddle shaped prominence

Forms a snug enclosure for the pituitary gland

Temporal bone fracture

Head trauma, concussions

Temporal bone fracture

Head trauma, concussions

Herniated disc

Involves rupture of the anulus fibrosus followed by protrusion of the spongy nucleus pulposus through the anulus

Herniated disc

Involves rupture of the anulus fibrosus followed by protrusion of the spongy nucleus pulposus through the anulus

Humerus

Surgical neck: distal to tubercles

Anatomical neck: inferior to head

Cribriform plate

Help form the roof of the nasal cavity and the floor of the anterior cranial fossa

Carpal tunnel

When the carpal bones are arranged in that the carpus is concave anteriorly and a ligament roofs over this concavity
