Condensate return-boiler feed water tank
Collects condensate from the system so it can be returned to the boiler |
City water make up line
When condensate return tank level is low the city water make up line admits water to the tank to maintain minimum water level |
Strainer
Strains out dirt and debris from the line. can be pulled apart and cleaned or blown down |
Boiler feed water pump
Pumps water from boiler water feed tank through the Hartford loop to maintain water level in the boiler |
Vent line
Prevents pressure build up or a vacuum from forming in the tank |
Condensate return main
Returns condensate to the condensate return tank |
Loop riser
Riser right before the Hartford Loop used to elevate the water to the tee that connects to the equalizing line |
Concentric reducer
Reduces pipe size, keeps pipes on same center line |
Equalizer-header drain connection
Connects the steam header to the boiler return connection equalizes supply pressure in the return line to the boiler |
Loop riser
Feeds water to the boiler |
Gate valve
Used for isolation |
Pressure trol high limit with manual reset
Safety mechanism used to shutoff system if pressure goes above max pressure |
Pressure trol subtractive differential operator
Starts and stops the boiler, set for min and max pressure |
Control train
Header for pressure trols and gauges, keep steam from connecting instruments with condensate cushion, replaces pigtails |
Clean out cross
Allows for inspection and cleaning of the control train |
Pump control and low water cut-off
Activates the pump when boiler needs water, works in conjunction with pressure trols and boiler feed pump |
Ball valve and blow down
Used for cleaning out the boiler |
Secondary low water cut-off MM 67 with manual reset
If main low-water cut off fails it will kick off the boiler, will only turn back on with manual reset |
Sight glass
Shows the water level in the boiler |
Boiler drain
Used to drain the boiler |
Swing check valve
Allows flow in one direction only. Position sensitive |
Ball valve
Used to drain and clean strainer, isolation |
Fast fill line
By passes the main header to quickly fill the boiler |
Expansion tank
Air receiver, maintains constant minimum pressure |
Expansion tank airtrol fitting
Release or add air to expansion tank |
Prv - pressure reducing valve
Maintains minimum pressure |
Float and thermostatic steam trap
Removes air and noncondensibles, returns condensate to the condensate return tank |
Safety relief valve
Opens when pressure reaches max 30 psi and resets at 3 to 5 psi less than max |
Shell and coil heat exchanger steam to water
Steam enters the shell and heats the water flowing through coils |
Inline air separator
Removes entrained air bubbles from the water and sends them to the expansion tank |
Dry well
Used to install a thermometer to test water temp |
Balancing valve
Keeps gpm at nominal set point. Maintains proper amps |
Steam supply line
Supplies steam to the heat exchanger |
Hot water supply main
Supplies hot water to room units/system |
Thermister
Changes the ohm resistance based on temperature. controls the outgoing water temp |
Thermister
Changes the ohm resistance based on temperature. controls the outgoing water temp |
Control panel
Houses all the controls and all the electrical of the hydronic system |
