sheet like layer deep to the external abdominal oblique; arises from tuber coxae and thoracolumbar fascia; crosses external at right angles; inserts on last rib and linea alba
Transverse Abdominis
deepest abdominal muscle; arises from costal arch, ribs, and thoracolumbar fascia; fibers run dorsoventrally; terminates on the linea alba
Rectus Abdominis
two long straight muscles extending from the sternum along the ventral abdomen on either side of the linea alba to the prepubic tendon
Cranial tibial
tarsal joint flexor extending from the tibial crest and tuberosity distally to insert on the metatarsus
Long Digital Extensor
extends digits, flexes tarsus; spindle shaped muscle extending from the extensor fossa to the extensor process of the distal phalanges
Gastrocnemius
extends tarsal, flexes stifle; large two bellied muscle arising from the distocaudal surface of the femur; inserts on calcanean tuberosity distally;
Superficial digital flexors
flex digits, extend tarsus; arises from caudal aspect of distal femur, deep to heads of gastrocnemius muscle, tendon wraps medially around gastrocnemius tendon and attaches superficially to the calcanean tuberosity, continues on plantar aspect of limb to middle phalange
Deep digital flexors
flexes digits, extends tarsus; large muscle composed of two or three muscle bellies extending from caudal surface of tibia and fibula to the distal phalanx
Adductors of the coxofemoral joint
adducts limb, flexes hip; largest of adductor muscles; deep to the gracilis muscle, extends from pelvic sympyhsis to caudal surface of the femur
