What is a controlled variable?

Things that we can control

What is an independent variable?

Independent is the one that we change - remember InCh (IndependentChanges)

What is a dependent variable?

Dependant variable is the one that changes as a result of the independent variable changing.

What is the function of mitochondria?

The aerobic part of cellular respiration occurs in it - the Krebs Cycle and the Electron Transport Chain.

Describe the structure of the mitochondria.

It is oval shaped, has an outer membrane and then inside the membrane has a very foldy wall that is called the Christae. Inside the christae there is the matrix fluid.

Why does the christae have so many folds?

It has many folds for SA:V, it allows the organelle to be more efficient.

What is passive diffusion?

Passive diffusion requires no energy and happens along the concentration gradient.

How does diffusion and osmosis help with cellular respiration and photosynthesis?

Diffusion occurs when the carbon dioxide or oxygen levels are lower outside the plant or cell, it flows out of the plant or cell into its surrounding environment, following the concentration gradient.

What is facilitated diffusion?

Facillitated diffusion is a type of diffusion that requires eneryg and happens through the help of transport protiens to get through a semi-permeable membrane.

What is the chemical equation for photosynthesis?

6CO2+6H2O -> C6H12O6+O2 (in the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight)

What is the work equation for photosynthesis?

Carbon dioxide + water -> Glucose and oxygen

What type of product is oxygen at the end of photosynthesis?

Waste product.

Why is oxygen an important waste product of photsynthesis?

It is an important waste product because it is what keeps all organisms alive, all organisms require o2 in order to complete cellular respiration. Earth would also have little atmosphere and the atmophere would turn to a devoid of gaseous oxygen.

What is the relationship between temperature and photosynthesis?

Enzymes and denaturing. Enzymes work faster when they are at their peak performance temperature.

what are the inputs of the light dependent phase of photosynthesis?

light energy and water

what are the outputs of the light dependent phase of photosynthesis?

carbon dioxide, nadph and atp

what are the inputs of the light independent phase of photosynthesis?

carbon dioxide, atp and nadph

what are the outputs of the light independent phase of photosynthesis?

adp+Pi, glucose and nadp.
