Why do we use microscopes? |
To see things we can't see with the naked eye. |
|
Why do we use light microscopes? |
To see individual cells and large subcellular structures like nuclei from atoms. |
|
Why do we use electron microscopes? |
Because they use electrons instead of light so we get a higher magnification. We also get a higher resolution. (Sharper image). |
|
What can we see with electron microscopes? |
The internal structure of mitochondria and chloroplasts. Also, ribosomes and plasmids. |
|
What is the equation for magnification? |
Magnification = image size ÷ real size |
|
What is the triangle for magnification? |
Image size ------------------------------------------------- Magnification × real size |
