What are pathogens?

They are bacteria and viruses

What is bacteria?

bacteria is very small in our bodies.


They can reproduce themselves. The bacteria makes you ill by producing toxins or damaging your cells.

What are viruses?

Virus are not cells. They are 1/100th of the size of a bacterium. They ionfect the cell, reproduce and damage and destroys the body.

What does the white blood cell do?

It will travel around your blood. looking out for any microbes (bacteria) and will engulf foreign cells and digest them.

What does antibodies do?

They lock onto the pathogen and kills the invading cells by biting it until it is killed

What does antitoxins do?

They neutralise toxins (ITS IN THE NAME!!!!)
