Photosynthesis equation
6CO2 + 6H20 + light --> C6H126O2
Cellular Respiration equation
C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H20 + ATP
How are CR and Photosynthesis related?
Photosynthesis produces oxygen that you need for cellular respiration
Describe the 2 main stages of photosynthesis
Light Reaction- captures sunlight/energy and makes it into chemical energy for Calvin Cycle. Starts with water and light and ends up with ATP, NADPH, and O2. The light excited the electron and the water is used in the electron transport chain (provides e-). The ETC moves electrons down and generates ATP/NADPH. The Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight with excited the electron. Other pigments like chlorophyll b and helper pigments are used in PSI and PSII.
2. Calvin Cycle- is a mini sugar factory. Starts with NADPH, ATP, and Co2 and ends with G3P ( used for reproducing the RUBP and making glucose) → glucose. The ATP regenerates the RUBP using G3P. The NADPH rearranges the sugar molecules. The Co2 charges the RUBP in G3P. the RUBP is made into G3P which is then charged back into RUBP and the cycle restarts.
stomata lab
Stomata lets Co2 in and releases O2 into the atmosphere. Also gathers water for plant on underside of the leaf.
