What are Neurons?
Individual cells in the nervous system that receive, integrate, and transmit information.
What is the Neuron composed of?

What is the Soma?
The cell body which contains the Nucleus and much of the chemical machinery common to most cells.
Define Dendrites
The parts of a neuron that are specialized to receive information.
What is the Axon?
A long, thin fiber that transmits signals away from the soma to other neurons or to muscles or glands.
What is the Myelin sheath?
Insulating material that encases some axons.
What are terminal buttons?
Small knobs that secrete chemicals called neurotransmitters.
What is a synapse?
A junction where information is transmitted from one neuron to another.
What does the Central Nervous System consist of?
It consists of the Brain and Spinal Cord and is covered in cerebrospinal fluid.
What does the Endocrine system consist of?
Consists of glands that secrete hormones.
