What is electrical potential?

A battery has electrical potential energy due to a separation of charge.

What is resting potential?

The conditions that exist inside & outside a nerve fibre at rest (not transmitting an impulse).

What is action potential?

If a neuron is stimulated, it conducts the nerve impulse through a series of A.P.’s (NB: just like knocking down dominos) Steps: Upswing, downswing, refractory period.

Why is there a polarization of the membrane during resting potential?
