What is the traditional view of how the Bible was written?
Conservative. Accepts biblical documents at face value. Assumes documents are historical.
How does the traditional view of the origin of the Bible differ from the modern view?
Traditional-Accepts as working hypothesis.
Modern-Approaches it as suspect at best. Assumed forgeries until proven otherwise.
What is the concept of the canon, and why is it so important?
A group of writings regarded as authentic, referred to as the Bible or scripture. It is the standard and authority by which behavior and future writings were measured.
In the NT, why were so many of the Epistles written before the Gospel?
The early church believed the return of Jesus was soon and thus at first a written argument that He was the Messiah did not seem to be needed.
What are Epistles?
Letters written to the people, early churches and individual believers, in the early days of Christianity.
Why did it take time for the NT canon to be agreed upon?
Most of the NT books are letters to various churches throughout the Mediterranean region.
What is the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls?
Are the original manuscripts of the Bible which verify the accuracy of the later manuscripts from which our modern Bibles have been translated.
