Sulfonamides
-not a drug of choice for any bacterial pathogen
-Excreted by kidney, reduce dose in kidney failure
-active against asteroids(rare) and toxoplasma gondii (usually in AIDS)

rashes, mild GI upset, avoid in pregnancy caue its teratogenic, avoid in children less then 2 months old.

-broad spectrum
-IV only, used rarely
-aplastic anemia in 1/30,000 patients!!
-gray baby syndrome in neonates b/c get hypoxemia and liver acidosis due to inability for liver to metabolize it.
-used in multiallergic patients!!!
