Gram positive bacteria

Have thick peptidoglycan cell wall

Have techoic acids ,teichuronic acids and proteins.

Stain purple /blue that is they retain initial colour .

Gram negative bacteria

Have thin peptidoglycan cell wall .

Has an additional outer membrane containing; lipopolysaccharides, phospholipids on the inner surface,

Proteins and lipoproteins.

All these components of gram negative cell wall forms what is called endotoxin or pyrogenes

These are responsible for most pathology in gram negative bacteria
