What does cross linking do?
Basically, one antigen molecule is bound by several mIgs on the B cell. This results in a signal cascade initiated by the Igalpha/Igbeta co-stimulatory molecoles of BCR which upregulates MHC class II and B7 molecles so that the B cell can act as an antigen presenting cell for the T cell
What are mitogens
They are antigens that activate B cells without T cell hlep (LPS or polymeric antigens)
-Resulting in crosslinking of mIG that is sufficient to activate B cell to secrete IgM
-However, no memory B cells produced
