Purpose of Backing Up

*save the information
*it can be retrieved through the particular selection of backup storage that the office has chosen *storing information could be done on a disk, tape drive, or a CD *a routine backup should be in place and performed to allow for the most recent information to be retrieved *make sure to store the devices off of the premises *store the information at the bank(daily deposits) *make sure to have more than 1 backup disk *if you backup on a daily basis the information can be quickly downloaded and put onto a system and used immediate *have a minimum of a 5 disk backup *backingup is a very important status in a office |

Why Archive

*This process is done preferably over deleting files
*This allows for storage of the files without them being in an active status *If a patient should return in the future information can be retrieve(unarchived) and updated *Types of patients to archive; -Inactive-not seen in 3 years -Moved -Terminated -Deceased |
