-Home and the concept and adaptability. -Earthling Bittering family, goes to Mars but Father Harry realizes he doesn't like it and wants to go back, but a nuclear holocaust has stranded them on Mars. -Harry notices subtle changes (plants, cows, people) and starts eating only frozen earth food. -Harry tries to build a rocket and his family soon becomes very dark skinned, tall, thin, and golden-eyed. -Harry begins to stop resisting the change wanting to move to the villas -Harry and his wife notice their old homes and remarks how the "Earth people's" houses are not built sensibly. -New astronauts come and the ending is a foreboding feeling that what happened to the Bitterings would soon happen to these new colonists

-Connection between man and machine - A mute RB series robot, nicknamed Robbie, is owned by the Weston family as a nursemaid for their daughter, Gloria -Mother is follower of the populance and when anti-robot setiment grew she wanted Robbie out, and Robbie is returned to the factory. -Gloria ceases to enjoy life. -They go to NY to get Gloria's mind off of Robbie and the dad feels they should go the factory where they see Robbie. -When Robbie saves Gloria's life, an unplanned part of the reunion, Mrs. Weston finally agrees that he might not be a soulless monster, and gives in. |

Morality and ethics of Robots. -Robot scarecrow meets a boy after the boys father was killed. -robot holds it up and shows a slight ego and malevolence -polic show up so they go to lake and car hovers over it. -patrol boat shows up and the scarecrows owner is passed out drunk. -Scarecrow kills the owner because he's not a good man anymore. -Car takes off, police surround them and the scarecrow says the kid is seeking political asylum.
