Front 1

Orlando complains to Adam that Oliver is cheating him out of his share of their father's money. Oliver enters and Orlando confronts him. They fight, then Adam breaks it up. Oliver summons Charles (wrestler); they talk about how Duke Senior was banished but Rosalind remains. Oliver tells Charles to hurt Orlando when wrestling tomorrow.

Rosalind tells Celia she's sad about her father being banished. Touchstone enters and tells the girls about the wrestling match. Le Beau asks the girls to talk Orlando out of wrestling, which they do unsuccessfully. Orlando wins the match, Duke Frederick praises him. Orlando falls in love with Rosalind.

Rosalind tells Celia she's in love with Orlando. Duke Frederick enters and banishes Rosalind because of who her father is. Celia and Rosalind decide to dress up as a man and an old woman and travel to the Forest of Arden to find Duke Senior.

Duke Senior and friends are in the Forest of Arden, talking about how much they love their life there. Then they talk about Jaques.

Duke Frederick finds that Celia, Rosalind, and Touchstone are missing. One of Celia's attendants tells him that she overheard the girls talking about Orlando, and that he is probably with them wherever they are. The Duke sends men to Orlando's house to find him and bring him back.

Adam tells Orlando that Oliver is planning to kill him by burning the house while Orlando sleeps. Adam and Orlando decide to leave together.

Rosalind dresses as Ganymede, Celia dresses as Aliena. They go to the forest with Touchstone. They meet two shepherds, Silvius (younger) and Corin (older). Silvius is in love, and Rosalind says she understands how he feels. Rosalind and Celia offer to buy the land.

In the forest, Duke Senior's comrades are singing. Amien tries to cheer up Jaques but is not having any luck. They leave to go the Duke's banquet.

Adam and Orlando are in Arden Forest and Adam stops because he is so hungry. Orlando leaves him, vowing to find him food.

ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE. Duke Senior throws a feast. Jaques actually looks happy and says it's because he met a fool. Orlando bursts in and threatens the feasters, Duke asks him why he is acting that way, and then offers him food.

Duke Frederick tells Oliver he has one year to bring forth Orlando. Until that time, anything Oliver has worth seizing becomes the Dukes. Oliver is upset, but does nothing about it.

Orlando hangs on the trees poems he wrote for Rosalind. Rosalind reads one of the poems, and Celia finds one too. Celia tells her Orlando wrote them and Rosalind gets excited. Jaques tells Orlando not to be so in love. Rosalind as Ganymede tells Orlando she can cure his love sickness by pretending to be Rosalind.

Touchstone decides that he wants to marry a woman named Audrey. Jaques comes upon them in the forest when the priest arrives and offers to give the woman away. He then tells Touchstone that he should wait until they get married in a real church. .

Rosalind is sad because Orlando did not come this morning. Celia tells her that Orlando is living with Duke Sr. in the woods. Corin asks them if they want see Silvius and Phoebe, the woman he loves.

Silvius tells Phoebe he loves her, but she doesn't return it. Rosalind chides Phoebe for mistreating Silvius, and Phoebe falls in love with "Ganymede" and writes him a letter.

Orlando has a meeting with Rosalind, dressed as Ganymede, and they work through Orlando's feelings about her. Rosalind tells him that they have to have a mock wedding with Celia as the minister. Orlando agrees and they gather to perform the service. Afterwards, Orlando leaves pledging he will be back in an hour. Rosalind then expresses to Celia how much she truly loves him.

The Duke's men celebrate that they have killed a deer, and prepare to bring it to the Duke.

Silvius gives Ganymede a letter from Phoebe, telling him how she loves him. Rosalind returns a letter saying she won't. Oliver enters looking for the ones who own the house (aka Ganymede and Aliena). He tells them he was asleep when Orlando came and saw a mountain lion. Orlando wrestled with the lion, was wounded. Gives Rosalind a bloody rag, she faints.

Touchstone and Audrey are together in the forest and Audrey is complaining about them not getting married. Another man named William who wants to marry her enters and he and Touchstone engage in a battle of wits. Touchstone overpowers the man, and he leaves. Corin enters telling the two that Aliena and Ganymede want to see them and they all go.

Oliver and Aliena fall in love and plan to be married. Orlando asks Ganymede for help, and s/he tell him s/he is a magician and can produce the real Rosalind for a wedding. Rosalind makes plans for who will marry who, including Silvius and Phoebe.

Touchstone and Audrey, who are preparing for their wedding the next day, listen as two pages sing a song about love.

Rosalind, Celia, and Hymen, the God of Marriage, enter and everyone realizes who they really are. Hymen makes each couple swear to each other, and as they are doing so the Oliver and Orlando's other brother Jaques De Boys interrupts. He tells them that Duke Frederick, knowing that great men kept leaving court and going to the forest, decided that he should come battle Duke Senior. On his way he met a religious man, however, who talked him out of his plan and told him to give up his crown as Duke. Duke Senior is then again the real Duke.

Rosalind enters as the boy actor who played her, and encourages the men and women in the audience to fall in love.
