When asking a yes or no question, you have several options for the question marker:




هل؟


أ- attached to the first word of the sentence.


ألا when asking a negative yes/no question

examples


- هَل هُوَ مُهَندِس؟

- أَلا يَسْكُم في القاهِرة؟

When attaching an object pronoun to the past tense form for they, drop the Alef

ex.


- شَرِبوا العصير


- شَرِبوه



when a pronoun is attached to إلى or على, the prepositions become إلَيـ and علَيـ

ex.


- ذهبت إلى المدرسة


- دهبت ‘ليها


- جلست على الكرسي


- جلست عليها



the damma of the attached pronouns هُ , هُم , هُنَّ changes to a kesra when following the sound i, I or ay

ex.


- رقصنا في الشارع


- رقصنا فيهِ


- نظر هو إلى الأولاد


- نظر إليهِم

For Jumla ismia, add إنّ to the beginning of the sentence.

ex.


- كَسَرَ الوَلَد ساعتي


- إنّ الوَلَد كَسَرَ ساعتس

When the verb comes before the plural subject, the verb is conjugated in the singular form

ex.


- الأولاد شَرِبوا عَصير البُرتُقال


- شَرِبَ الأولاد عصير البُرتُقال

When making the past tense, add ما in front of the past tense verb.

ex.


ما شَرِبْتُ العصير

When you have an indefinite (a/an or some) object not ending in taa marbuta, it will be written in tanween al fatha at the end.

ex.



كَتَبْتُ خِطاباً لأُمي

When you have a word with a double root, if in the past tense the second letter that is doubled has a vowel over it, it will take a shedda, if it has a sukon, it will be written twice.
