What is conservation?
The management of the Earth's natural resources in such a way that maximum use of them can be made in the future. This involves active intervention by humans to maintain ECOSYSTEMS and BIODIVERSITY.
What re the three main reasons for conservation?
Ethical - respect for living things

Economic - Living organisms have the capacity to make millions of substances which may prove valuable in the future.

Cultural and aesthetic - inspirational to writers, poets, artists, and myself :)
Regarding succession, what is one way of conserving habitats?
As succession progresses, a habitat may disappear, resulting in loss of the species. To prevent this, succession may be managed to prevent change to the next stage.
What is secondary succession?
When the factor preventing succession (caused by humans) is removed.
