Pinchot exposes possible corruption, then fired by Taft for insubordination. Pinchot is very close to TR and TR and Taft have falling out.
John Pershing
Commander of World War I, sent by Woodrow Wilson after Mexican General Pancho Villa who attacked and killed 17 civilians in New Mexico. Ordered home in 1917 without capturing him. Led AEF and was sent to France to guide Americans in WWI returned in 1919 a hero.
Williams Jennings Bryan
ran for president in 1896, Democratic canidate aagainst William Mckinely. Bryan ran populist platform. Bryan argued that easy money supply, though inflationary would loosen control over northern banking system. Bryan later lost campaign as well as the populist movement.
Eugene Debs
founder of the American railway union socialist candidate and ran for president in 1912, got the most votes out of any socialist representative.
Lusitania
Ship sunk by German U-boats in 1915 killing 1200 passengers, provoked the condemnation of both the public and the government. The ship was in fact carrying a bunch of ammunition to the British but received much less attention. Sinking of this ship led Germany to cease submarine warfare for a while due to bad publicity it created.
