Center or middle distribution of scores, (mean, median, and mode)
When is the median the best measures of central tendancy?
In a skewed distribution
What are two measures of score variability?
Range and standard deviation
How is standard deviation calculated?
1. Compute diff. between each score and mean
2. Square those differences
3. Calculate mean of the squares of the differences
4. Take the square root of this mean
Why do you have to square the differences?
If add up diff. of scores and divide by number of scores, get zero
