Elastic Clause
Constitution- Article 1 Section 8
Allows Congress to pass all laws necessary and proper to its duties, giving Congress power implied powers.
Federalism
Government authority shared by national and state/local governments
Separation Of Powers
Constituional authority that is shared by three different branches of the government.
-judicial: interprets laws
-executive: enforces laws
-legislative: creates laws
Check and Balances

Powers not given to the national governement are reserved to the state or local governments. (reserved powers)

Article 1 Section 8- Congress has the power to regulate interstate commerce. (extremely broad, gives congress TON power)

The supreme court case that established congressional regulation of interstate commerce.
