Atavistic (adj.)

Definition: Relating to or characterized by reversion to something ancient or ancestral


Sentence: His appearance was almost atavistic, he looked Neanderthal.

Fathom (n., v.)

Definition: A measure of length (6 feet) used in nautical settings; to penetrate to the depths of something in order to understand it.


Sentence: In Zoolander, he was the aging supermodel who cannot fathom the idea that the universe doesn't revolve around him.

Fawn (v.)

Definition: To seek favor or attention; to act subserviently

Florid (v.)

Definition: blessed with a rosy color, as in complexion; very ornate and flowery

Garrulous (adj.)

Definition: verbose; talkative; rambling.

Ingenuous (adj.)

Definition: unsophisticated; artless straightforward; candid.

Innocuous (adj.)

Definition: harmless; having no adverse effect; and not likely to provoke strong emotion

Insipid (adj.)

Definition: lacking zest or excitement; dull

Definition: of or pertaining to an island, thus, excessively exclusive

Definition: stubborn; immovable; unwilling to change

Irascible (adj.)

Definition: prone to outburst of temper, easily angered
