Prolong repolar. - extend effective refractory period

Prototype: was bretyllium tosylate (Bretylol) but now amiodarone (Codarone) most common
amiodarone (Cordarone)
Class: Antidys - Class III, K+ chan. block

Mech of action:Prolongs duration of action potential / refractory period w/out effecting resting potential; relaxes smooth muscle = vasodilation in coronary arteries; antianginal & sympatholytic properties

Indications: All tachydys. (works on anything)

Contraindication: bradycardia
bretylium (Bretylol)
Class: Antidys (Class III - K+ chan blocker)

Mech of action: prolong depolarization period & refractory period
