ANTIBIOTICS AND ANTI INFECTIVES
Penicillins
Mech of action:
act by binding to specific “penicillin binding proteins” (PBPs) in the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Thus, the cell wall is incompletely formed, and holes or “fenestrations” are present that allow molecules to pass in and out of the cell. The result is cell Lysis-the cell breaks apart.
