PRA and Hip Dysplasia are mentioned several times in this unit. Please explain a way that you could potentially avoid these problems if you decided to buy a puppy of a predisposed breed.
Well if I was trying to avoid these problems, I would stay away from the breeds that were prone to these problems. There are several breeds predisposed to this, and afterdoing research you may see that there are several, especially the larger breeds that are known for these problems. For example the Retrievers, Dobermans, and Mastiffs. If I decided that I was going to have these dogs anyways, than I would make sure they had the proper diet to support these issues, as well as glucosamine for hip and cartilage issues, and they would see the vet regularly to monitor these things. If you give the proper nutrition, it may help in these issues.
