Spring Festival (Chinese new year)

-A famous poet named Qu Yuan suicide on the day by jumping in to a river because he learned his homeland had been conquered

The Night of Sevens Festival

-The legend of the festival is a cowhand fell in love with a maiden from heaven. The lover got separated by the queen of heaven. After tried to get back for a long time, they finally met again in this day.



-It is like today's Valentines day.

Moon Festival

-Also called the Mid-Autumn festival



-It is celebrating the bounty of the harvest



-The main tradition is to eat moon cakes

-To be a civil servant, people have to take test, the higher marks you got the higher position you are in



-Civil servant helped to run the government, they would collect taxes, enforce laws, and act as judge.

Calligraphy

-Art of handwriting, the ancient Chinese considered writing is an important form of art



-Practise years to learn to write perfectly

-Each stroke in a character had to be drawn in a specific order
