Sub divides the body into upper and lower positions (horizontal or axial plane)

Superior/Cephalic

Towards the head (upper part of the body)

Inferior/caudal

Towards the bottom (lower part of body)

Frontal/coronal plane

Sub divides the body into front and back halves (coronal=skull)

Ventral or anterior

On or closer to front

Dorsal or posterior

Sagittal plane

Sub divides the body into left and right

Sub divides the body into equal left and right halves
