5 Main Types of Blood Vessels

Arteriers - Take blood away from the heart

Arterioles - Smaller branching arteries

Capillaries - Smaller aterioles

Venules - Capullaries form to make these

Veins - Venules form to make these and bring blood back to the heart

Anastomosis

The union of branches of two or more arteries supplying the same body region

Osmolarity

Measurement of concentration of a solute

Factors affecting blood pressure

Resistance

Viscocity

Vessel Diameter and Length

Blood volume

What are negative feedback systems for the heart?

Cardiac Output - How much blood is pumped

Resistance - controls constriction

Blood Volume - controls amount of blood

Systole

The point right at peak of contrsction

Diastole

Point lowest before contraction

Sphygmomanometet

Device used to measure blood pressure

Korot-Koff Sounds

The noise of your blood pumping heard through a Sphygmomanometer to find your blood pressure

Spleen (where is it and what does it do)

Where - Left side of the body, behind the stomach/next to it, and just a little higher than the pancreas

Purpose - largest mass of lymphatic tissue in the body

- has all immune responses power

- stores up to a third of platelets

- filters blood for immune reasons

Lymphatic nodes (where are they and what are their purpose)

Where - throughout the body but majorly found in the neck, armpits, and groin areas

Purpose - Hold lymphocytes, these act as fighters against foreign invasion by bacteria, viruses, cancer cells, or toxins. Lymphocytes also help control the immune response.

Notes - No Capsule

What is the Cerebral Arterial Circle/Circle of Willis

All the arteries in the brain

What is the Brachiocephalic Trunk Artery and where is it?

Only on the right side of the body anf splits off from the right common carotid artery. Theres only one of these when theres two for the vein equivalent

Subclavian artery

Artery running along the clavicle

Axillary artery is?

The artery along the armpit

Thoraic and Abdominal Aortas are located?

Thoraic is in the chest area and abdominal is in the lower torso area, duh

Celiac Trunk

Artery branching anterior to the kidneys

Where is the Common Hepatic Artery

Right offshoot artery that snakes anteriorly from the Thoraic Aorta below the liver, to the right side of the heart

Where is the splenic artery

Inside the spleen

Where is the Superior Mesenteric Artery

Its going off the right side (patients right) of the abdominal aorta below the pancreas, and capilarilies into the ascending colot and small intestines

Sigmoid colon is?

Sigmond colon is the colon that transports urine directly to the gonadials

Where is the Inferior Mesenteric Artery

Going off the left side of the Abdominal Aorta connecting into the Sigmoid Colon

Where is the Brachial Artery

Its the arm to forearm Artery

Suprarenal arteries are?

Going anteriorly from the renals

Renal arteries are?

Going off from the abdominal aorta and connecting to the kidneys

Where are the Common, internal, and external Iliacs?

Along the lower abdominal is the common iliac descending laterally on both sides then it continues into the external and finally the internal branches medially into the crotchal

Where is the radial artery?

Artery connected to the thumb

Where is the Ulnar Artery?

Artery connected to the palm, opposite of thumb

Where is the popliteal artery?

Artery along the knee

Where is the Anterior and Posterior Tibial arteries?

Front and back of inside of the leg arteries

Fibular artery?

Artery alongside the outside of the leg

Brachiocephalic Vein is where?

Branching off Vena Cava and theres two of them going up into the neck

Where is the Cephalic Vein?

It runs up the side of the arm into the shoulder

Azygos vein?

In the back behind the heart

Where are the hepatic veins?

Veins inside the liver

Where is the Hepatic Portal Vein?

Vein connecting from Liver to Stomach

Basilic Vein is where?

Along the inside of the arm on the ulnar side

Where is the median cubital vein?

Inside of elbow

Where is the median antebrachial vein?

Inside of mid forearm

Where is the Great Saphenous Vein

Runs along the inside of the legs

Small Saphenous Vein is where?

Along the backside of the fibia and runs through to connect into the popliteal vein (knee vein)

Where is the popliteal vein/artery?

Knee

Foramen Ovale grows into?

Ductus Arterious

And Then

Ligamentum Ateriosum

Ductus Venosus grows into?

Ligamentum Venosum

Umbilical Vein grows into?

Ligamentum Teres

Cisterna Chili is what?

A Lymphatic Trunk that flows lymph stuff down on the Lumbar System

Which ones has a capsule surrounding it and which one doesent

A lymph node or a lymph nodule

Lymph nodule has no capsule

Lymph node does have a capsule
