Which two muscles of the posterior flexor compartment of the leg make up the Achille's tendon?
gastrocnemius and soleus muscles
name the 7 muscles of the posterior compartment and what innervates them?
gastrocnemius, soleus, plantaris, popliteal, flexor digitorum longus, flexor hallucis longus, tibial posterior

innervated by tibial n.
Where is the dorsalis pedis artery and what does it come from (which artery)?
it is between the big toe and 2nd toe. it comes from the anterior tibial artery.
Where are the four pulse points of the lower limb?
femoral pulse in the femoral triangle; popliteal pulse in the popliteal fossa; posterior tibial pulse in the 'tarsal tunnel'; dorsalis pedis pulse on dorsal aspect of foot
Name the arterial supplies for each three compartments of the leg.
anterior comp = anterior tibial a.

posterior comp = post. tibial a. and fibular artery

lateral comp = no arteries; supplied proximally by anterior tibial a. and distally by fibular a.
Starting from the aorta, follow the branching of the artery from hip to foot.
aorta branches into internal (gluteal/hip region) and external iliac artery. external iliac continues past the inguinal ligament and becomes the common femoral artery, which soon branches into the superficial femoral a. and deep femoral artery. deep femoral artery branches early on in the thigh region while SFA continues down through the adductor hiatus of the abductor magnus and into the posterior compartment, where it becomes the popliteal artery. the popliteal artery branches into the anterior tibial artery (which provides supply to the anterior compartment) and posterior tibial artery. the posterior tibial artery branches into the fibular artery. the anterior tibial artery becomes the dorsalis pedis artery in the foot.
What goes through the tarsal tunnel? (in order from front to back)
tibialis posterior tendon, flexor digitorum longus tendon, posterior tibial artery, tibial nerve, flexor hallucis longus tendon.
