What is Anatomy?
The study of the structure of the body and the relationships of the body parts to one another.
Why is it important for Personal Trainers to understand anatomy?
To be able to meet the responsibility of the Personal Trainer and identify appropriate activities and exercises to help clients achieve their personal fitness.
Name the 5 major human body systems.
1) Cardiovascular System; 2) Respiratory System; 3) Nervous System; 4) Skeletal System and 5) Muscular System
Define the following: Anterior (ventral), Posterior(dorsal), Superior, Inferior, Medial, Lateral
Anterior: Torward the front; Posterior: Toward the rear; Superior: Toward the head; Inferior: Away from the head; Medial: Toward the midline of the body; Lateral: Away from the midline of the body.
Define the following: Proximal, Distal
Proximal: Toward the attached end of the limb, origin of the structure, or midline of the body. Distal: Away from the attached end of the limb, origin of the structure, or midline of the body.
