Anaphylactic Shock: What is the pathology?

A whole body allergic reaction. Histamine released causes constriction of airway & abdominal pain (vomiting, diarrhea); Histamine causes blood vessels to dilate (lowering B/P), & fluid leaks into tissues and alveoli (lung sacs)causing low blood volume resulting in pulmonary edema resulting in shock.

Anaphylactic Shock: What is the cause?

allergc reaction. The flood of chemicals released by your immune system during anaphylaxis can cause you to go into shock; your blood pressure drops suddenly and your airways narrow blocking normal breathing.
Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. It can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to something you're allergic to, such as the venom from a bee sting or a peanut. |
