Classification
Sympathometic Bronchodialator.
Indications
Reversal of bronchospasm due to COPD, Asthma
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, Tachydysrythmia, Angioedema,
Side Effects
Thermoanxiety, tachycardia, palpititions
Dose Rate For acute bronchospasm
Adult: MDI 4-8 Puffs every 1 to 4 hours may be required
Nebulizer- 2.5-5mg every 20 minutes for a maxium of three doses
Pediatric: MDI (Four Years and Older)- 2 Inhalations every 4-6 hours, Younger than 4 years administer by nebulization.
Nebulizer- Older than 12 Years- Continuous dose 0.5mg/kg/hour
Younger than 12 Years- 0.15mg/kg every 20 minutes for a maximum of three doses.

Acute Asthma in Pregnancy- MDI- 2-4 Puffs Every 20 minutes
Nebulizer- 2.5mg by 0.5 nebulization fluid. Dilute 0.5 ml of solution in 2.5 ml of normal saline. Therapy is 5-20 minutes
Cautions
Lactating Patients,Cardiovascular Disorders, Cardiac Arythmias
Untoward Effects
Untoward Effects
Hyperglycemia, Hypokalemia, palpitations, sinus tach, tremor and anxiety, hypertension, dyspepsia and paradoxical bronchospasm.
